Most of the fishing ground bearings (called ¿méd" in Norwegian) are today forgotten. But once, having good fishing bearings for oneself could be compared to being able to collect money from the bank.
Granite stone fences on to a crag, with green patches around and stones rolled to the side on the beach to make room for the rowboat: the sheepfold was an important station for small cattle and people on the farm.
The people of Kråkenes have always been faced with bad landing sites. There were five known sites: Storehola, Keila, Stiksvika, Bleke and Synstestøa. In 1933-38, a road was built to Kråkenes from the Kvalheim farm.
