Nordsida church is designed by the architect Alf Apelseth, who at the same time was working with new church buildings at Berle in Bremanger and Kilsfjord in Volda. These three churches have very many common features, but the basements are designed differently.

When the church was new, there was only a steel cross on the wall above the altar. For the 10th anniversary of the church in 1983, an altarpiece was installed, designed by the artist Ingjerd Pettersen Hagh and made by Jarle Myklebust. The cross is now placed in the mortuary room. Wood is the main material used in the altarpiece, but glass mosaic is also used. The expression is rich in symbols, with the use of the triangle, the classic symbol of 'The Holy Trinity', and the way to heaven, to God.
